Now that things have settled, and the cigar smoke has cleared… do Pierce deserve a HC opportunity with the Raiders? Are the Raiders playing better because of Pierce or in spite of McDaniels? I wonder how Mark Davis is going to look at the job by Pierce.

I wonder how the Pierce regime would have been received by Raider Nation if those Miami and KC games were their first two games.

It really comes down to what you value from the Head Coach. If you think the HC’s main job is to motivate his players and get them ready to play, AP deserves a shot. If you think Xs, Os, and scheming is more important, especially on offense, then there are better options.

If the season ended yesterday I’m not sure I’d be ready to hand the keys to the big office over to AP without seeing who else might be an option. His clock management and not going for it on 4th down in certain situations leaves a few question marks about his performance. That said, he still has five more chances to audition and I’m very excited to see what he can do in that timeframe

If you keep Pierce you need an assistant head coach to help with time outs and strategy. I wouldn’t mind Steve Spugnolo from the Chiefs it weakens an opponent and a head coach lot of assistants would flock to.

Smoke has not cleared. We still have 5 games left and real evaluation will depend on how we finish the season. Since AP and staff can mix things up during bye week, more are expected than last 4 games.

I think experience matters. Ideally, you have a leader and manager in the same person.

We witnessed McDaniels as a manager, but not leader. Gruden was both.

Pierce seems to be more of a Leader type who would need to be surrounded by high-caliber managers (OC, DC, ST coaches) and be able to define how they will be accountable and hold them to it.

Personally, I like the Leader + Manager in a single person …but it’s rare as we see.

Things haven’t settled. He is 2-2 with 5 games left. Plenty of time for a decision to be made after his performance is reviewed and other candidates are considered. Theses posts can stop at any time now.
