Guarantee that dude coulda locked down Jerami Grant
It’s extremely frustrating.
YES I KNOW WALKER IS ONLY A ROOKIE AND HE CANT SHOOT 3s.
WE DRAFTED HIM FOR THE PURPOSE OF PLAYING THE 4 BECAUSE NESMITH ON GUYS LIKE GRANT DOESN’T WORK.
I’d rather have rookie Walker on these guys than undersized nembhard and nesmith or Brown
Not reacting to the game, as I have not seen it yet. But I do know that Toppin needs to play better if he is going to be considered the long term 4. And I can tell you now, he isn’t. There is no way that a power forward who hardly gets screen assists, rebounds or contested shots is going to survive in the league.
At this point you might as well give those minutes to Jarace Walker. Toppin’s already getting fewer and fewer minutes and the writing is on the wall for him. If all you bring to the table is running at the opponent’s basket and finishing some flashy alley-oops than you just don’t need to be considered an NBA player. And that is frustrating as fuck, he’s got all the physical tools to be a really competent power forward, but he just doesn’t seem to put it together.
Toppin is def not the long term starting 4. He was brought in as a filler to give them time to develop Jarace. Toppin isn’t a bad option at backup 4 for the right price but his defense is terrible.
There was some pretty good defense played on Grant in the 3rd and 4th quarters, he was just having a night. Nesmith was damn near in his shot on one of those and he still hit the 3. I don’t agree that throwing a rook into a no-win situation is “no worse” or helps his growth. At least guys with experience can deal with it better and should have short term memories.
