I’m becoming disillusioned.

The 2020 draft class was exciting initially, “trigger Troy” unloading his clip to get his guys. Stew was gonna be a mini Ben Wallace or whatever, Killian had this super high ceiling, right? Now, we’ve found that Killian is barely an NBA player, Bey was traded for a non-NBA player, and Stew is just not good enough.

2021 was exciting. No-Brainer pick in Cade, and a late “steal” in Livers. Franchise cornerstone and a reliable 3&D wing, right? Now, every game we play just punches me in the gut, begging me to snap out of it and start seeing these players differently, too.

Are we sure Troy is the drafter we think he is? Or maybe he’s JUST a scout, but doesn’t know what to do after that, with his asset management and roster construction.

We just don’t have any real method to generate offense. The team is shooting awful from 3, and nobody is getting to the line enough either. So to try to offset that, they go and play a “defense-first” lineup, but we don’t have the personnel to do that at any effective level.

I guess we don’t need to be able to shoot or draw free throws if we can just rebound our misses, right? right??

I’ll be crucified for saying this but if Ausar doesn’t improve on the offensive end he’ll be a high end bench piece. Can’t shoot 17% from three and be a starting wing. Love his potential but he’s got a lot of developing still. Definitely could be another overhyped Weaver pick.

Ausar could be a starter on a winning team, but he needs to be surrounded by 4 shooters assuming he never becomes an average 3 point shooter

Yeah Ausar as is could be Draymond-ish. All-NBA player next to Steph, role player/bench guy without Steph. He does so many incredible things on the court, but needs to be in the right situation. That being said, it’s 17 games into his career. Wouldn’t be shocked to see the shooting improve, if he can just get to 30% he will be fine

lol the problem is every young we have we say “ they’re good but need to be surrounded by 4 shooters”—-the math isn’t adding up. We need all shooters and one non shooter if that’s the case. can’t have Duren around 4 shooters or Cade around 4 shooters( then same with AT)…that’s 2.5 non shooters there

Weaver whiffed in 2020. Didn’t land Haliburton, Maxey, or Desmond Bane. Instead got also rans like Killian, Bey, and Stewart. I remember when they were being hailed and promoted as the future, along with Saben Lee. Had he gotten one or two of the three I mentioned this team would’ve been on a different course, but probably still landed Cade.

Troys and this teams problem is not the draft picks. It’s the rest of the team

Except it literally is the draft picks too. If we got Haliburton/Maxey/Bane in 2020 and didn’t waste assets getting Stew/Bey, we would not be in as bad of a mess.

Could’ve drafted McDaniels instead of bey, mcdaniels would’ve been perfect
