If we could shoot 3’s at a normal rate, and not turn the ball over, and then change literally nothing else, we win enough games to where no one is freaking out 24/7 and coaches and players to don’t have to fake these quotes to try and pacify mindless masses.
We’re bottom 6 in 3pt % and 2nd to last in TO’s, and bottom 10 in FT attempts… that’s the season. It has nothing to do with heart or playing hard. We just don’t make open shots and our young guys don’t take care of the ball…

Right?? What a stupid ass comment that gets thrown around constantly. Does he think the players can just grind a millions 3s in practice and that solves the problem? Its obviously deeper than that. All of those players can drain a 3. Its about lack of confidence, pressure, faith-- intangibles that I hoped Monty would bring. Unfortunately so far, he hasnt 😞
You’re completely missing the point. What I’m saying is that all of the extra reasons people are throwing out as to why we are losing are silly. Monty can’t get up at a presser after the 14th loss and say “honestly, we just kinda suck at shooting and if we shot 35% from 3 and made our ft’s this game, we would have won.”
It’s just been a shitty stretch of mostly poor shooting and high TO’s. One of the few games we did shoot really well from 3 against GSW, we ended up taking 17 fewer shots than the Warriors because we somehow gave up 17 ORB’s and of course had more TO’s.
We’ve only shot better than our opp from 3 this year in 5 games. We won 2 of those, 1 was to the aforementioned Warriors, another was against Portland who shot 33 FT’s to our 11.
This team has 2 problems. We’re shooting poorly and we don’t take care of the ball. Lineups, effort, rotations, grit, Him-ness, etc… is all secondary.
You don’t get it. It’s that the guys are lazy and and unmotivated and Monty is trying to get fired and the injured guys that are our best shooters who will come back and replace non-shooters won’t have an impact at all and Cade is in his 7th season and isn’t “the guy” and that’s why we aren’t winning.
It has nothing to do with literally giving away possessions without even attempting a shot, and then when we do attempt a shot having almost the lowest odds in the league of it going in because we don’t have enough shooters.
We just don’t try hard enough… to make the 3’s.
A lot of the players on this team are fighting for a job; if they don’t make it here, they are not making it anywhere.
All it takes is one night for all the shots to fall and this team is going to get that win.
