Worth it compared to what?
Worth it compared to what?
Roster-wise, getting Bogdanovic back and giving him some of Stewart’s minutes would help a lot. He was by far our most productive player last year.
When Monte Morris can play again (and if he’s as good as the last couple of years) we would be much better than Killian and Sasser. If he took all of their minutes we would be better immediately.
Maybe there’s something we can do with scheme and game plan to get Cade playing better but that’s up to the coaches and players. He has been an all-time horrible high usage no efficiency guy so far. I believe in him, but we can’t win with him playing like this.
He has not produced so far. But he is only 22. Lots of guys who became great were already good at 22 but some weren’t. Devin Booker wasn’t awesome his first two years. Now he is one of the best.
Let’s trade Killian, Rhoden, and Umude for Bojan Bogdanovic, Monte Morris, and Livers. It would help our spacing so much and reduce turnovers.
The strategy is: keep the team young so you get good draft picks, don’t trade all your future picks, keep cap flexibility. When you’ve got your foundational pieces in place, shift gears to start acquiring veterans who complement your roster.
The problem is that Cade hasn’t played enough for us to be sure whether or not he’s the foundation.
Take out Zion and Joe Harris and the Pels might consider it. If we also add draft assets.
If I were Tom Gores, I would think about it this way. Weaver has laid out a coherent strategy and pursued it pretty well. Some good and bad luck, some good and a few questionable moves. But he’s done a good job building our talent pool. We had a bad record because we were trying to get good draft picks.
However, Gores might still fire Weaver after this season as a sacrifice to the angry mob. The fans don’t like to hear it anymore about “not skipping steps,” they want results. So you buy time by firing people. We already played the “fire the coach”. If the development is too slow, you fire Weaver after this season, but you still got the benefit of the strategy: Cade, Duren, Ausar, Ivey, and a clean cap sheet.
So Weaver is not on my hot seat but he is on “the” hot seat, in terms of likely to be fired if our record is bad.
He’s likeable. I like him. From a technical standpoint (whatever that exactly means, what do I know about announcing?) I feel like he would be the worst in the league.
Yes, Bally is the only above-board options. Even League Pass doesn’t work because of Tv market location restrictions. I am in the “acceptance” stage of grief after being mad about it last year.
Keep Ausar’s minutes the same, I don’t care if he starts. Bojan’s minutes should come from Killian, 5 min from Cade, some Beef Stew minutes.
