I was watching the timberwolves game and hearing giddey get boo’d on almost every single possession where he touched the ball made me think a bit. I would feel so horrible if he was innocent and he gets treated as a pedophile for the rest of his career.

Also, I realized that if the girl did indeed trick him into believing she was above 18, she will receive absolutely no legal consequence whatsoever despite potentially threatening a young man’s career, earnings, and reputation.

    I’m still surprised they are continuing to let him play and speak to the media. Innocent or guilty. If he’s innocent, I think he’s be well within his right to leave for “personal” reasons while the investigation continues. Then he’s not a distraction to the game if he isn’t on the court. If he is found guilty, how does that look for OKC that they played him??

    It’s a lose lose situation unfortunately.

    And based on the scant “evidence” everyone has seen, that’s exactly what it seems like happened. The girl lied, Josh got tricked, there’s no court case or police report, and as soon as Josh found out the truth he told the Thunder (apparently over a year ago), and that’s it.

    In Presti we trust, remember? Josh wouldn’t be on the team right now if this was actually a problem.

      I’m surprised too, even though I shouldn’t be. This sub has infantilized Giddey since he got to OKC. No one else gets the “he’s only __ years old!” treatment. Now, he’s being made a victim.

      The responsibility was on him to vet anyone he sleeps with. Checking gov’t-issued ID and Googling her first and last name to verify her age is the bare minimum.

      Redditors trying to justify him sleeping with 15/16yos are insane. I don’t care if that’s the AoC in whatever state he’s trying to have sex in, for optics reasons, he needs to stick to women over 18. If the league/team isn’t drilling that into their players’ heads, what are they doing?
