I think that whole thought process has led to the current refs we have today that are inconsistent and low key seem like they have money on games. If you consistently don’t care how the refs do their job than what’s the point of having refs? I mean honestly If refs can’t change a game that much then we shouldn’t have them, eh? We need to have a system that makes sure refs uphold the rules of the game for both sides and I don’t understand why that is controversial to some fans of the game.

This logic of “overcoming” only applies when they are shitty both ways. They were egregiously in Philly’s favor start to finish

Who ever said they don’t care how the refs do their job? lol

Were you told that Steph Curry was a bad shooter by any chance?

Personally I think the whole “if you complain about the refs, you’re a crybaby loser” and “at the end of the day, bad refs are no excuse for losing” mentality helps justify and normalize refs deciding the outcome of games.

Make the “non-judgmental” penalties like PI and holding reviewable, and at least half the problem is solved.

You can’t leave it up to the refs is just being a realist. It doesn’t enable anything. There will always be bad calls and mistakes.

You’re misreading the thought process entirely. Nobody is saying they don’t care what the refs do or how they perform. They’re saying you’re not going to change calls during live action and need to put the players in position to overcome whatever the variance of officiating is that day.

Anyone that’s played competitive sports knows you can’t leave it up to the refs. Put the game away.

Two missed wide open TDs and two missed field goals were our opportunities to do that.
