The Raps really need their point guard of the future now.

It will probably take a few years for a prospect to get established. So they need to find someone now that will take over after Schroeder’s contract is finished. That is, unless you believe Dennis will have a late career bloom like Lowry.

The ideal pick ups would be someone like pre-trade Lowry, pre-trade Haliburton, or pre-trade SGA (I know, not a PG).

So who do you think is the next PG that has a high ceiling, but hasn’t shown it yet?

I’m imagining someone you could trade Siakam for and it seems like you’re giving too much. But then in 3-4 years, you’ll say the Raps won the deal.

For example, I bet Cason Wallace will look really good in 3-4 years.

If the Knicks aren’t sold on IQ as part of their future given they failed to extend him, i’d go after him. He’s overqualified to be a bench PG and he’s a good defender for his size though obviously he’d be coming off of it for the time being.

The issue is coming up with a trade package that doesn’t involve giving up another first.

I’ve heard some people are high on Quickley. Don’t know much of his game.

Davion is fun but he can’t score and hasnt shown much passing.

Yeah, Davion is not going to solve our offensive problems.

Good question. Thanks for not thinking we’re getting LaMelo like some people on this sub.

To answer your question, I’m not sure if it exists because Haliburton & Lowry type players don’t come often. And most of the guys I am listing are probably off the table for trades.

I would say Anfernee Simons, Jaden Ivey.

Davion Mitchell is solid, Suggs is looking better.

I REALLY really like Tre Mann, he’s probably my #1 pick for a sleeper guard.

And I’m gonna sound fucking nuts, but Killian Hayes. He’s 22 and was a lottery pick. Great passer, great defender, it’s his piss poor shooting ability. If he ever learns how to fix his jumper, his ceiling is ridiculous. I do think he’s been a bit better of a shooter this year.

He had 26/8/7/5/2 (vs. OKC) not too long ago. Which is pretty nuts for what some people call one of the worst NBA players. He reminds me of Haliburton a lot with his skillset.

Tre Mann is my #1 though. Kid is gonna be a stud, OKC is a good trade partner as well.

Love the random assortment of players I wouldn’t immediately think of.

The nice thing about some of them is that if Siakam is involved, then there would be a number of salary matching pieces and maybe picks too.

So if you took a chance of Davion Mitchell for example, you’d also get whoever matches salary like Harrison Barnes or whatever else.

      jaden ivey

Not a PG, he was jut forced to be one because Cade was out last season

      killian hayes

As a reclamation project/swap for Flynn, sure but he’s more or less a bust as a starter level player

      davion mitchell

He’s a year younger than O.G. What potential?

I think if he’s a starter you could get 15/5 a night with 2nd/3rd all defense as his ceiling. That’s not bad. Not sure if it’s a long term fit though, might just be a late bloomer kinda guy like Pascal.

I do enjoy the idea of hayes, very versatile and seems to be improving as a shooter. I dunno why they have him playing the 2 guard with Cade

Well for Hayes, it’s mostly the Pistons not embracing Jaden Ivey despite him being the better player, with a small part being that Hayes is a much better defender than Ivey

Davion Mitchell and Simons are not PG.

Mitchell is a small guard and an offensive liability, but a plus defensively.

Simons is a pure shooting guard that has a big contract, so not particularly relevant for this thread.
