Been here for years and this sub has gotten really reactionary as of late, which is something expected in 2023.
However with so many random posts pointing fingers at other fans, calling out new joiners etc, I feel it’s making for a really toxic environment. Can we curb those and just add a rule like “if you’re post is about antagonizing another type of Spurs fan, keep it to yourself?”. I’d to keep the nice debates around basketball etc, but if posts are so biased to call out people that disagree “nephews” or “fake fans” then it just doesn’t invite nice conversation.
It’s ok to have disagreeing basketball takes and it’s ok to be a new Spurs fan, there’s no reason why we should make it hard for new and old fans to enjoy this basketball team alike.
Anyways, keen to here people or mod thoughts.
I think fake/casual is the label assigned to impatient fans who don’t trust the process that is the youngest team in the league taking time to learn and grow.
i think it’s assigned when someone has a difference in opinion from you
Some of these self proclaimed ‘true’ fans are pretty dumb and come across as losers with a superiority complex but I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Every community has gate keepers but most sane people don’t pay attention to ‘em.
I don’t think it’s “fake” vs “Real” , it’s more like “Spurs fan” vs “Wemby fan”. ( it’s not impossible to be both of them, but some people joined us because of Wemby ) I like wemby and very happy that he joined our organisation, but starting to shit on Sochan because he didn’t look at wemby during a game , or shitting of PATFO after 6 games is clear disrespect. “Wemby fans” need to understand how this team has dominated 2 decades. Spurs are an organisation that many try to copy. It’s not one individual…
We finally passed the bottom of the waves , our future is bright , we have time and tones of pick… let PATFO COOK.
