  • TJ would not make this team 10x better that’s for damn sure, we should all chill with falling in love with backup point guards imo. We suck because we can’t defend

But you’re right that we could get much better next year, however if we draft a PG it will take some time before they’re a net positive. Rookie PG is really really tough in the NBA.

I’m mostly eager to see any growth from Malaki and Julian as I haven’t seen any improvement YoY yet. I think Keldon has progressed steadily, Jeremy is progressing (curious to see how he’ll be when sliding back to the 4) and Collins seems to have hit a ceiling based on his physical profile. As you said Devin and Victor everything looking good so far.

  • Honestly people are using point Sochan as an excuse for everything imo. The first issue is defense and that’s an everyone but Vic problem. Jeremy is doing fine there considering his workload, but people are getting blown by, missing assignments way too regularly to deserve wins.

On offense we seem to lack a cohesive offense with Wemby on which looks like it’s a planned phase of our build. It’s been said how extra focused the front office is on maximizing Victor, so I’m sure they know what they’re doing, even if it is not instantly focused on winning.

Jeremy himself has started to look better slashing and shooting, still too many turnovers when ball handling but that’s a workable skill (and probably why he’s asked to handle that much). His reads are also improving, so I think we’re looking good there development wise.

Other players need to step up. Malaki and Julian can’t be airballing open threes, Malaki needs to improve his D especially. Keldon is making efforts on defense but still has ways to go. Etc

These are all the things I’d focus before trading anything, gotta maximize what you have before augmenting it

  • Malaki I think I’d like to see more breadth of impact, with passing as well as just average defense.

Crossover for Jeremy’s a great idea, otherwise maybe more midrange shooting on the move.

Devin I’d like more shiftiness on the drivble, changing pace and getting to the paint a bit more

Wemby is just a rookie so he’s just gonna progress organically I think, so much to clean up but he’s looking so impactful already

Very insightful comment that should make it a little easier for us fans to understand that this is literally a learning phase right now. This year is about building up certain players in new situations and understanding what a good team around Vic needs, not making the play in and getting trounced in the first round
