Ragequitting has always been bad in OW, but seems even worse with it going F2P, with no serious penalties for leaving matches. Given how much this ruins a 5v5 team based game every time it happens you’d think they’d institute more serious consequences. But it occurred to me, why not let them face their own consequences and make those people 1000 times more likely to be match up with other ragequitters and those that never ragequit get paired with other people that tend to stick it out, no matter what… Thoughts??

if you get rid of leavers which is like 25% of players, and seperate them into different ques both players are gonna get longer que times. 25% is a large number since not many people leave a lot but everyone leaves at some point

I actually don’t agree, because when you’re in charge of a game you’re in charge of its success. Player count, advertisement, engagement.

If leavers were matched with leavers, then the game would become severely less enjoyable for those people. “Well that’s what I want! Leaving should be discouraged!” Well, that’s a nice ideology but sadly everything is about driving up numbers, not discouraging a chunk of player base by putting them into a bracket where they would have a worse experience. And they would.

I would not pick up overwatch if every time I joined I got a game of leavers, it would be a lot harder to log in and play the game for those people. Not to mention building a system for that, essentially another hidden MMR but for leaving. And that’s a lot of work for a function that will alienate a section of the player base. Good idea in theory, but in practice we’re shooting ourselves in the foot with this.

    haha thats a cool idea.
just imaging the leavers getting so annoyed they getting so many leavers they can never finish a match.

It would be fun if leavers were prioritized to backfill

Instead of improving the current non-comp matchmaking?? Lmao, what a joke. I get the goal of QP is to quick play, find a match fast, but it wont be a pleasant experience to be stomped and stomped and stomped and stomped times in a row just cuz the game prioritized fast queues than fair matchmaking, its a HORRIBLE experience and its far worse in OW2. Its frustrating to see that you CAN NOT PLAY bcuz the other team is too good or your team (w or without you) is a bunch o potatoes, being stomped too many times just desensitize you to play and in the first sign that itll be the same all over again you just quit.

“just play comp then”, no, i want a QUICK and FAIR game, valorant does it, paladins is quite good at it, even LOL can matchmake with good balance and quick queues, why our dear indie company cannot? Penalizing without fixing the dam underlying issue are going to make people uninstall and leave the game all together

Anything that would split up the matchmaking pool won’t happen again after overwatch 1

A lot of the player base has absolutely no game sense or any idea how to play on a team especially in qp and I don’t always feel like getting flamed by players that just dive into the entire enemy team solo over and over.

NO PLEASE! Sometimes mi wifi goes out while playing, I rejoin after a couple seconds, but OW doesn’t differentiate between ragequit, crashing, and connection loss, and punishes them all equally even if it was out of your control
