If the Thunder want to win games they need to:
-
Find a BIG that can bang in the paint and still play ball the way the Thunder want to play and
-
Cut Giddey’s minutes drastically.
This whole “get rid of Giddey” narrative is giving me Harden vibes. How often are we gonna ask in a few years, “what if OKC never traded Giddey?” when he’s averaging 24/9/8 for the 2028 NBA Champion Chicago Bulls.
Giddey is too valuable an asset to give up on just yet. He has a lot to learn and improve on, sure. But he’s a serviceable player with the court vision of a seasoned veteran. At just 21 years old, we haven’t even seen the full potential of Josh Giddey. Let him play through this slump. Cutting his minutes won’t make him better, it’ll just shake his confidence and make him worse.
Trade for Lauri Markannen
Hm we need a bam type player imo. So maybe when the heat blow it up. But who would leave Miami lol
Too many people fall in love with a player and can’t be realistic. People are saying “Giddey is young” or “he will develop”. That’s fine when you have a bunch of rejects playing on the team, but roster spots are becoming more valuable as time goes on.
Cason, Joe, and JWill are currently outplaying Giddey. Dieng isn’t yet, but he has even less experience than Giddey and may have more upside.
Giddey is seriously dragging the average down at the present time. The cream needs to start rinsing to the top and get playing time, based on merit. Right now, Giddey’s minutes need to be slashed. Maybe it will motivate him.
I think it could actually be siakam he actually fits in as a pf that can defend and switch onto smaller guys can rebound and score and pass if Toronto would just start a rebuild with maybe a little over pay I think it’s worth it with the picks we have
The Thunder want to win… championships. You do that by being patient. Do you think Presti could have done what the Rockets did last summer and spend a bunch on vets to inflate their wins this season? Of course. But that’s not how you create sustained success.
You also need to accept the fact Chet is the center of the future. Presti won’t be trading for a traditional big. But, there’s every chance he’s looking for a 4 with some size to play beside Chet.
Yeah!!! Like the PERKINS trade back in the day! 🙃🙂🙃🙂
