I think you have to consider that for some of those guys, you can actually just pass them the ball anywhere and they can do something effective with it.

AD outside of post mismatches and lob finishes is just… yea. He’s not catching the pass as a short roll decision maker, he’s not running the offense out of the high post, he’s not facing up at the 3 point line to shoot or drive. It’s probably much harder to just pass the ball to AD and let him cook.

  • These pros have such a deep pool of champions that don’t see the light of day because it doesn’t fit the try hard meta.

I don’t think that’s true at all. A lot of players don’t have very big champion pools.

And what was the fortification of the “meta” picks and bans that developed across this Worlds? You mean the rapid shift from a late-game ADC team-fighting meta to an early~mid game snow-balling meta where all your lanes can carry? Pick and bans at the start of Worlds was entirely different from the end.

If anything, this Worlds showed that it’s really more of a problem with the teams and players than it is with the game, format, or meta.

For a team like T1 that has been a top team for 2-years and through multiple different metas and has players with larger champion pools, with enough scrim and practice time, they showed that you don’t need to be meta slaves. You can counter the meta, turn things into a rock-paper-scissors situation, out-draft your opponents, and then cash-out on your advantageous position in-game.

The question now is if teams will learn anything from T1’s Worlds run or if they’ll just go back to doing things as usual.

  • 姜承録绷住了整个世界赛,并在四强回光返照让大伙愕然,可是,所有人都未曾想过,你能在决赛没绷住,梦回LPL下雨时代,3场本年度最重要的比赛,你交出了接近1-20的成KDA……

TheShy…you kept your int to yourself for the entire Worlds, and in Top 4 you shocked everyone by carrying the shit out WBG. But, beyond anyone’s wildest imagination, you could no longer hold your int in the Finals. Throughout your time in the LPL, this is your most important series in 3 years, yet you nearly gave us a KDA of 1-20…

I won’t comment on the localization of this translation but it’s not “your most important series in 3 years,” It’s “3 of the most important games of the entire year.”

Also, I’m not 100% sure on this, but 梦回LPL下雨时代 probably translates to “thinking back to the championship days of the LPL.” The only times I’ve seen 下雨 used in this context is referring to the confetti after a win.
