I think it is very comfortable. Not as comfortable as my Xbox Series Controller, 360 controller or my PlayStation 5 controller but definitely very enjoyable to use. There was an adjustment period, especially to the analogue sticks. The weight is there. I don’t hold the deck with my arms fully extended so usually rest my arms on something. Like my lap, stomach, sides of the bed. You should be able to figure out what works for you once you have it in your hands

DigGumPigBtoSteam Deck@hardware.watch•No one is talking about the sub-pixel arrangement in the OLED, so I willEnglish1·1 year agoDo you think applying a matte screen protector could help mitigate the issue ? Since it will blur out a lot of the sharpness of pixel edges or introduce what would be commonly referred to as “free antialiasing”

Life is Strange.
It’s calming, easy on the eyes, immersive and very low effort to play. I can’t play any action games when i’m sick, too intense when i’m trying to rest.

Thing is tho, i do not intend to transfer terabytes of game data over from my PC.
Also, i do not plan to have a ton of games on my Steam Deck anyway.
In the end it would just be an unnecessary investment. My Steam Deck is more of a companion to my PC gaming rather than a replacement :)
Even though i have been playing on it more than my PC for the past two months. Super convenient.
DigGumPigBto Apple@hardware.watch•how many languages do you use on your iphone? do you have emoji’s and custom-languages?English1·1 year agoEnglish Lithuanian and Russian. Yes the emoji keyboard is there but there is thankfully a separate button on the keyboard for it. Though I wish i could switch the Globe with the Emoji icon.

DigGumPigBtoGaming@level-up.zone•Imagine if AAA developers still made insane, goofy, fun games like they used toEnglish1·1 year agoIndie developers have taken on the role of making insane, goofy games.
Most big publishers avoid investing in games like that because of their highly “experimental” nature which could yield no return on investment.
Whereas with indie developers the stakes aren’t so high so they can afford to do it out of passion.

DigGumPigBtoSteam Deck@hardware.watch•OLED Switch vs. LCD Steam Deck using the new vibrancy and color boosting display settingsEnglish1·1 year agoPersonally, i’ve set mine to Native after a few minutes playing. It looks nice but i have this thing where my head starts to hurt after a while when looking at an oversaturated display. Does look like the update recalibrated the display and made it display colors more naturally in respect to the screens capabilities which i am enjoying quite a bit.
Before getting any game for it, or the Steam Deck for that matter, I suggest going on YouTube and see how it runs on Steam Deck.
It’s a great way to find out what to expect and they will usually show what settings they use and how to set them should that be necessary in the first place.
You can play loads of multiplayer games and It connects to the TV just fine with just a cable. For the best experience it’s worth getting a dock.
Steam does not have any subscription at all.
If you are very new to gaming in general and PC gaming especially, i suggest getting the OLED model for the best experience. It’s the “refined” version where Valve has improved upon many aspects people have been complaining about.
Mini Ninja’s now projects up to 6:20h of battery life instead of up to 4:30h. That’s quite a change. Seems like a far more consistent 60fps all around too.
DigGumPigBtoSteam Deck@hardware.watch•What games surprised you with performance improvements after the 3.5. update? My highlight is LotR: War in the NorthEnglish1·2 years agoNot a game, the Steam user interface. Navigating Steam menus just seems more responsive than it was. That i did not expect
I am sort of torn between 3 different states of feelings right now. One is this meme, another is me on the fence about actually getting one and third being completely contempt with the one i’ve got.
That being said, i’ll see how i feel about the OLED model sometime next year when i hope they put it on sale.
Until then, i’m quite happy being excited about SteamOS 3.5 I believe it’s a solid guess that they will release it along side the Oled Steam Deck launch.
DigGumPigBtoSteam Deck@hardware.watch•I got a second hand SteamDeck with a matte screen protectorEnglish1·2 years agoI have applied a Matte screen protector onto my Steam Deck last week actually.
I love it. Specifically because it acts as free antialiasing over every element on-screen.
One drawback of sorts is that max brightness seems to be reduced and colors aren’t as “sharp” i guess but i don’t really care. It even added warmth to the displayed image which was a bit surprising.
Although a gloss screen without a matte screen protector produces an clearer, sharper and slightly more vivid image overall, i still prefer the benefits that matte finish offers and they outweigh the cons.
And i’m glad that worked out for you.
DigGumPigBtoSteam Deck@hardware.watch•Happy to have my Steam Deck on a flight only to find out that it updated last night and requires sign inEnglish1·2 years agoAre you running Stable, Beta or Preview ?
Yes. In Mini Ninjas for example, if you force any other version of Proton other than the default, you will have no sound.
Unless you are experiencing issues right from the start, it is best not to force any specific version of Proton.
