The wild thing is that there aren’t a lot of crazy ass games. I mean, other than us effectively winning out. Needing the giants to win is a stretch, but nothing here would be utterly baffling. Nfc South eats itself while the packers make their own run, panthers win all but the Jax game isn’t THAT wild of a scenario.

Not that I expect us to DO any of that, but it is possible. Last year was crazy AF as well

  • Whomever we get, I just want them to have some fire. I still firmly believe Bryce is the future and will lead us to great seasons, but he’s not a loud person, and that’s okay. He’s closer to Russell Wilson in that they’re very even keel/ unflappable. When Seattle was at their peak, they were the Legion of Boom. They were led by a defense with attitude, swagger, and backed it up with even louder play. Cam was (love it or hate it) the loudest QB in 2015.

Detroit doesn’t need their players to speak up and have fire because their coach does that for them. Houston doesn’t need CJ to be vocal, because Ryans does it for them. Give me someone to root for, even if it’s not great. Show me some fucking life on the sidelines or press conferences.

  • Yes, no, maybe, hell no, sure.

Why do people want Harbaugh or Bienemy so badly? Harbaugh got run out of the league for various reasons(one of which being that the players didn’t like him but he kept winning, so who cares), had okay success at MI until they started cheating. Bienemy is also not loved by players and has been middle of the pack at Washington with a top-tier group of guys (qb notwithstanding, though I think Howell can be good)

  • Name ONE interesting thing with this team right now.

Derrick Brown and Frankie Luvu are absolutely balling.

One glimmer of hope… an up and coming player

Tommy Tremble. He’s come a long way in the passing game and is getting better at blocking. He may not be Kittle, but he’s not Ian Thomas.

    A rising coaching candidate.

Given the destruction of our defense through injuries this season, I’d say Evero has done a fine job. Yeah, were 31st in points allowed, but 6th in yards/game allowed. He’s absolutely going to get head coaching interviews this off-season, and we’d be lucky to keep him.

Don’t get me wrong, that is an abysmally short list of things to look forward to, but my point is that there are things to look at.

  • I never wanted Reich for his coaching. Steichen was my guy from the beginning. Reich, however, did bring other coaches with him that I had hopes for. Unfortunately, this ancient offensive scheme breaks any good will I had for him.

I hate that we’re likely going to lose Campen as a fall guy rather than Reich because I truly believe it’s a head coaching problem and not much else. (On the field, that is. GM absolutely needs to be shaken up as well)

  • This sub has had (rightfully so) a hatred for CJ. And up until this year, I’ve been one of them. But I’d like to keep him. Evero has worked miracles making this 3rd string defense come together for some sort of competence, and he’s also gotten the most out of CJ that we’ve seen. As much as I love Horn, having at least a solid, consistent CB is a must. CJ doesn’t have to be a first ballot HOFer, just has to be good enough and actually on the field. Other than a few other specifics in FA, I mostly agree with what you’re saying. I’m not sure Evero will leave after a year, but I don’t expect him to stay much longer after next if he does stay.

I keep seeing stuff about Ben Johnson to the chargers, and I just don’t get it. They hired Kellen Moore as the OC from Dallas this past year after Moore interviewed for HC jobs. It’s fairly obvious he’s the next in line for that job, and if the chargers offense keeps going the way it is, no one will have a shot, including Ben Johnson. That puts us in a bidding war with LV and likely CHI, at the very least.

I truly, truly believe that the players (for the most part) aren’t the issue. It’s the scheme. Frank is a great guy and has a history with the Panthers, and that’s great. But this is a business. Tepper needs to sell tickets. You don’t sell tickets if your team is boring and bad. We can be boring but winning, and we can be bad but exciting. We can not be bad and boring. Frank has been bad and boring for the last two years.
