Speaking honestly, he’s got a great motor but not a reliable 3. His defense is scrappy, but that doesn’t make him a consistent defender or a versatile one either. He’s good at the things he’s good at, but he doesn’t have the versatility to deal with switches to a big. TJMs biggest detriment is his size, which stinks cause his basketball iq is so solid.

He will be an incredible coach one day.

I would argue that if he’s being used as a wide receiver type player that he’s being used poorly. Losing a rebounder is a much bigger issue than losing a deep ball threat. He should not be the first one down the Court but instead should be the trailer. It’s not him being first down the lane but him being faster than his defender in getting back. If he was a guard I would understand but his position, the defender is going in for the rebound and likewise so should he.

  • Same positions he needed to address last year. And the years before that.

We still don’t have WR who can get separation. Downs is arguably more important to our success than Pittman, but no one is calling Downs a #1WR, so that’s saying a lot about the position.

We do not have a true Mathis level rusher. Paye just isn’t that guy. We need a better QB threat.

Oh, and despite drafting 3? new CBs, we still have a problem at that position.

Just go back the past years and be amazed that we keep on clamoring for these same things.

Credit that our LT and center doesn’t seem to be an issue this year as in past years.

  • Yes, the Kings did trade the wrong PG. The kings have a positive +/- with Fox off the court. He doesn’t affect their game as much as the other players pick up his slack. The Pacers without Tyrese are negative.

So if we had Fox instead, we’d have a possibly better on-the-ball scorer(maybe) but no more no look assists, culture of fun, transition offense.

Tyrese was better for us and IS better for us, and will be the better player at the end of his career. Steve Nash was a league MVP and a top100 player. If he’s the second coming of Nash, even you know he’s better.

  • It’s James Johnson easy for so many reasons. His size fits more of a need, his leadership with the young kids makes a huge difference and with the old vets is also still a solid addition. Even if we didn’t have a spot available I would bring him on board as a consultant… he is to the Pacers what Udonis Haslem is to the Heat

  • Using defensive rating as a metric doesn’t do the best to decide how good of a defensive team we are. The reasoning is because we are such a fast paced team that teams are going to shoot more shots and make more shots against us.

Instead I would look at the net differential and look at past years to see how we are doing as well as how we are doing in comparison to other teams.

When you are shooting it within the first 10 seconds of a possession you are also giving the opponent more possessions as well which is going to translate into more points regardless of how good your defense is.

  • I can tell you from personal experience it was said by people to me directly at games or around the water cooler talk. I would not have said it otherwise. Acknowledging that some people couldn’t see further than Stephen Jackson’s cornrows isn’t a damnation of the city but of people that were flawed.

You backed your team. I backed the team. But I sat in half empty arenas and endured people slandering the players. And when asking people to come out, it was said directly to me. It made me sad and infuriated to hear people saying it, but I’m not going to ignore that part of it when I tell you that it happened. I lived in Haughville, so it could be where you lived, but to deny it happened or to call it a dogwhistle would be lying to you.
