Except W3 has the Animal House ending like most choice based games of its type, you know what he does with the rest of his life because he tells you.
And more importantly, >!there’s an ending where he dies!<.
If this kind of stuff is up your alley check out the game GHOSTWARE: Arena of the Dead. It’s a kind of parody FPS that is a single player campaign about a woman who’s trapped inside of a Quake-like multiplayer game that no one plays anymore.
Well the last act of the game feels about 25% as long as it should be so that tracks. I can only imagine how much was cut with an ending as terribly paced as the one we got.
There was an article several years ago where they interviewed a CDPR higher up and he said he thinks Witcher 4 will be about a create-a-character.
we don’t play Saints Row for the characters, we play it to get more GTA. And the reboot was just not fun.
Yakuza does the optional boss thing perfectly. Every game has an optional boss that you unlock after you beat EVERYTHING. Meaning he’s for the hard-core who already have everything they could have.
The Miyazaki quote is fake but, so long as the source video I saw was real, it’s a pretty accurate summary of what he was saying in the interview the screenshot is from.
He was saying something about how Otaku are too divorced from the world to write meaningful stories yet Otaku are usually the writers for manga and anime.
Kind of ironic considering the James Gunn movie made him Groot
I wouldn’t be so dismissive of the grappling hook. We know how strong that thing is from the Arkham games. Batman should take better care with it. It could be used for a lot of bad things if it fell it into the hands someone like, I dunno, Harley Quinn or something.
Yeah as soon as they started speaking to each other my heart sank. If only there was a really funny and well written movie featuring most of these characters to take inspiration from. Oh well.
Yeah, you’re describing Vermintide 2 and Darktide which have tons and tons of unique weapons for each character that makes them actually unique, and is made by a team a fraction of the size with a fraction of the time on a fraction of the budget of this game.
It even has actual melee combat in a coop game.
And to think they could’ve just used Bloodsport and Peacemaker who both use guns and are the two most important characters of the latest movie.
Her hair and clothes are great it’s just the default anime woman face that’s the problem
The mission structure being wildly limited, maybe some of the most handholdy games ever made, worked well for RDR2 since the vibe it was going for was it playing out a Western movie, and you’re an actor who needs to play your role or else do another take.
But that does not work AT ALL for GTA5, which was the same thing. That’s not what Grand Theft Auto is, was, or should be. It’s in the name, freedom from the law to do whatever you want. The open world was almost totally pointless. Despite its existence it played like a linear setpiece shooter like Uncharted (Or Mafia 1/2 for a more exact match) but should play like Breath of the Wild.
I didn’t really like the demo at all. I already found Talos Principle 1 really boring since a puzzle game that’s just about picking up and placing objects strikes me as an incredibly uninteresting gameplay concept for a puzzle game.
Now 2 a game with boring puzzles broken up by boring dialogue segments. I guess a lot of people really loved the first one though and it makes sense that the same group that liked the puzzles would like the dialogue too.
Indie devs can’t afford to do what this game is doing. You can’t just go into Elevenlabs and generate a voice and use it in your game and sell it, that’s theft. AI voices are based on real voices.
I wish this article had more specifics but it sounds like they paid VAs to have their voice trained into the AI. Unless they hired some suckers it was probably a pretty hefty sum considering the sales pitch would have to be they only get paid once instead of getting paid every time the game needs more voice work.
I don’t think AI is blanketly bad, not even AI voice acting, but this is theft. AI voices are trained on real voices. This is the equivalent of them taking some other VAs work and splicing what they say together to say the things they want and not paying them. Just because the AI is really good at splicing the words doesn’t change that.
All they did was obscured whose voice they stole from themselves so that they can pretend it isn’t theft. For this to be legal, they should need that person’s permission and to pay them.
I don’t really agree with people saying the story is a downgrade. The last game’s was a fucking mess. Martin Li was a terrible main villain who is later replaced by Doc Oc who would’ve been a lot more compelling were he not rehashing the exact same motivations that Li had.
It did feel weird that the main villain of 2 is Spider-Man’s most boring foe but I ended up liking Kraven a lot more than I thought I would. It led into a very natural way to fight every Spider-Man villain and give them all 15 minutes of fame.
The problem is Venom, which is sad because this is the coolest looking and sounding Venom ever made. His design is phenomenal but he comes and goes, with like a third of the time Kraven got. You’re expecting it to be split half and half between Kraven and Venom like the last game was with Mr. Negative and Oc but it’s not, it’s like a 75/25 split, and what we do get of Venom is, weirdly, a remake of Web of Shadows. Not only have I seen this all before, I’ve PLAYED this all before.
But I don’t want to just harp on story. All three Spider-Man games have pretty terrible writing that is obscured by great gameplay and this is no exception. All your abilities are super cool and traversing NYC feels incredible, and the variety of enemies is really fun.
I’m just left wondering >!why the fuck is there a 15 minute long segment where you play as Venom? I was certain even before that that they were setting up for a Venom game but then he gets vaporized after the final boss and never comes back.!<
How the hell are you still a Silent Hill fan in 2023?
