I keep hearing, “Should Bears trade Jaylon Johnson?” Why should we trade him? What would we truly gain out of it?

Why not see what teams are selling and see if we can pick up a pass rusher or an offense lineman to strengthen our lines.

Why wait till next year?

It’s important to build through the draft and get good value for FA picks.

It’s also important to sign homegrown difference makers. You have cap money so you can extend guys like JJ.

I haven’t heard anyone talk about trading him in all honesty. I’ve heard talk of whether or not we should extend him, but not trade him.

Agreed. He’s a starting and reliable cb at very least and I think much better than that. He’s young, and as long as he signs for less than very top dollar, sign him. We’d do much better signing a pass rusher or lineman though I can’t imagine there’s many really good young o line guys available. Get a de if Poles can get one without giving up any high picks, he’s young, and is as good or better than what is likely to hit fa.

He doesn’t get turnovers. He has 3 interceptions and 2 were versus a terrible backup QB. I personally prefer to keep looking until I get a ball hawk

The Bears should make the best deal for the Bears. If that means signing him to a fair contract, sign him. If JJ wants a superstar contract (which he is not), then trade him, franchise him, or let him go in FA… whichever is most advantageous for the team.

I like Johnson, but he is not irreplaceable.
