I am playing Devils advocate in this post. Here is a list I’ve started with what would you add?
-
zero mtx
-
live service (new maps, modes, and in game items) every 3 months (?)
-
everything is unlockable with minimal grind
-
5 dollars a month max ( I just made it a monthly sub instead of actual hourly)
-
interactive devs that work with the community
-
bug fixes and gameplay improvements at least monthly.
-
blatant problems fixed asap
-
good anti cheat that’s always being updated
What do you think? It could make games more competitive to try and give you the best bang for your buck with the monthly sub.
The problem is they get people hooked. And then start to strip away these once they have a big player base or they increase the price. Similar to Netflix.
I’d go to an arcade for hourly gaming. Still cheaper than whatever the ceo’s are spewing out.
Absolutely nothing would make me pay hourly, aside from seeing the CEO of the company in question personally shove a railroad spike through his balls for that hour.
I don’t want to. I don’t like subscriptions as they are now. I prefer to actually own a game because I treat them like books. I buy one, play it till I finish it and then put it on a shelf (or if it’s digital on an imaginary shelf) to never open it again unless many years later I want to relieve a certain part from it
IIRC, I don’t think anyone was SUGGESTING going to an hourly pay system. I think they were just saying a games VALUE can be measured in price per hours of entertainment. I understand the knee-jerk reaction considering we’re talking about some of the greediest assholes on the planet, but I also want to live in reality.
