That’s crazy. When we talk about this guy, I think it’s an important thing to remember. Whether or not you think he is mistake/ fumble prone, this stat suggests his vision, burst and therefore, lack of explosive play factor, is as bad as many here think. Maybe we don’t use him correctly, or maybe he is just bad. I don’t know. But you could see a clear difference in both Chandler and Akers’ acceleration and change of direction speed when they were on the field imo. As much as he seems to be a good person, I think he is a sub par running back.

Mattison playing this bad is one of the weirdest things I can think of in pro sports.

When he was the backup to Dalvin he looked really good, even when he had to start while cook was out.

Now he looks so much worse, can’t run that great, and the fumbles… oh man the fumbles.

He’s a good backup who never should’ve been given the starting role.

Did people expect him to break off big runs? I thought the whole point of dropping Cook for mattison is to get away from famine famine feast. Mattison’s whole point to me was to get 3-4 yards per cary so the passing game can open it up.

Mattison isn’t good, he doesn’t have any game changer effect, I was literally saying that all summer and people would argue against me. Now they are quiet, and haven’t said anything positive about Mattison since.

I KNOW DUDE WE NEED TO START CHANDLER THAT MAN LOOKS LIKE HE IS ON STEROIDS AND COULD EASILY BE BETTER THAN DALVIN COOK AND DARE I SAY HE REMINDS ME OF ADRIAN PETERSON BUT LET’S CALM THE HELL DOWN HE HAS A LOT MORE TO PROVE BECAUSE ADRIAN PETERSON WAS A BEAST BUT MY HOPES ARE HIGH HE LOOKS REALLY REALLY GOOD AND CAN FOLLOW PLAY CALLS VERY WELL AND RUN THE BALL ESPECIALLY ON THOSE FAKE PUNTS WHICH I ADORE IT MAKES ME WANT TO KISS KOC ON THE LIPS BECAUSE HOT DAMN WE ARE TAKING SOME RISKS. HE WON’T FUMBLE THAT SHIT EITHER IT STAYS NICE AND TIGHT IN THE ARM UNLIKE MATTISON WHO MAY AS WELL BE JUGGLING THE BALLS FOR SOMEONE TO SLAP OUT OF HIS HANDS DURING HIS -2 YARD CARRY. I’M NOT TRYING TO BE A HATER BRO I DION’T LIKE HATING ON PLAYERS BUT MATTISON SHOULD BE A BACKUP AND NOT A STARTER.

    Sorry for all caps

Almost all of us were saying to get rid of Cook and just give him the job, so almost all of us are guilty. Now here we are, whoops.

Was so frustrating seeing this sub celebrate cutting Cook with no backup plan. How is it news to this sub that Mattison is not actually good?

According to the stats on Yahoo! Sports, Mattison’s longest run this season was 19 yards. Other stats include: an anemic 3.7 yards per rush, four fumbles— all lost—, and three TDs… but all through the air.

The Vikings wanted Montgomery but settled on Mattison which was a mistake. There was better RBs available in free agency. They probably felt that he was a good locker room presence.

He can’t be better than the bottom 25% in the league. The Vikings should sign anyone else who can block, because there’s a good chance they’ll be better at everything else.

Also, the only person with a rushing TD out of the RB position is Akers (who is now out for the season with an injury). The remaining rushing TDs are from the QB position, Dobbs (3) and Chandler (1, wildcat direct snap).
