For months now I’ve been torn between buying a Model Y and buying one of Hyundai’s Ioniq models. Today I pulled the trigger and bought my first EV, an Ioniq 6 SEL. Overall I just felt like I was getting more car for the same price. I’m absolutely blown away at how much Hyundai has turned their brand around compared to 5 years ago. The 5 year 60k mile bumper to bumper and the 10/100k battery with two years free charging and 3 years free maintenance is what ultimately sold me. But dang if those Tesla seats aren’t the most comfortable things in the world.

    Congrats, OP!

I would personally go with a Tesla, but if I had to select an EV from a legacy company, the Hyundai/Kia offerings are among the least offensive.

It sounds like you made the right selection fro you, which is all that matters. Enjoy your new EV!

You’ll love it, the E-GMP platform is awesome.

If it was awesome, they would not be replacing it so soon.

It sounds like the new IAM platform may support true OTA which is a big negative for the E-GMP platform.

Anything to justify buying a rattle box, eh?

Here are all the TSB’s for the Ioniq 6. For such a new car it has a lot of problems. Unfortuantely, without OTA updates, you need to go into the dealer to get them fixed.

Congrats on your new Ioniq 6! I think it looks cool. Reminds me of the quirky Infiniti J30 and Merkur XR4TI.

I own a 2015 Model S and I recently sat in a Ioniq 5. I was super impressed with the smell and quality of the interior. Everything felt upscale, especially the buttons. They all had a soft and silent feel to them. Only Lexus has done something like that.

Seats were very comfortable, the fake leather felt very rich and smooth. The sound system is very good, just needs a 12" subwoofer for my bass needs. But the mid-range and tweets were very very good.

So I imagine the Ioniq 6 will be equal if not better in quality.

Wait until you try and get a “FREE CHARGE”. You’ll be cursing you did not buy a Tesla. Look at Tesla’s Charging network. Incredible.

The Ioniq 6 is a beautiful car but unfortunately after the frustration of dealing with my local Hyundai dealership over minor issues on my last two Hyundais I am ready to try another brand.

I got an Ionic 6 SEL RWD a few weeks ago love it! And there’s an EA charging station 2 miles from my house. I “fill up” once a week. Also greatly prefer the dual screen dashboard with lots of physical buttons to the Tesla center screen. Enjoy!
