I don’t think Ron would be on the boat to GM trade players with his job on the line this season so it made me think this could be related

Ron should be a dead man walking, I’ve been patient with him, but we’re not getting any better. It doesn’t take 5 years to become competitive, look at every other team around the NFL.

I don’t want Rivera making ANY decisions that could effect next year in anyway. His judgement sucks and he’ll be gone next year anyways, why let him make decisions like that?

Ron’s gone at the end of the season. His fate has been clear for a few weeks.

He’s a dead man walking. The only way he keeps his job is if we win 10 games and win a playoff game. That’s not happening with our offensive line and bad coaching.

Probably not. If the defense or offense looked like a remotely well-coached unit, there might be a case for making someone interim, but… yeah.

It also could look hideously ugly in retrospect, after people forget how we’ve actually looked in the first half of the season. Imagine the speculation if we fired Ron, lost most of our games, and the Bills and Eagles met in the Super Bowl: “Yeah, they were 3-5 when Ron was fired, but three of those losses were to the SUPER BOWL teams. Ron always goes on a good midseason run, and this time he had a quarterback who could have been great. It’s Snyder/Schottenheimer all over again.”

I don’t think Harris is the kind of guy who makes that kind of gamble (huge downside risk with no upside). The smart move from an owner’s perspective is to say, “Hey, I just got the job, and I wanted to let Ron finish out the season. Given the result, it’s time to move on.”
