In every press conference and interview, MCDC always talks about “limiting the explosives.” If you were drawing up a defensive scheme where the number 1 priority was limiting explosive plays, you’d have the Lions:

Cornerbacks play soft off coverage

Safetys play deep

Linebackers never blitz, and always have eyes on the quarterback in a zone scheme. On running plays they play sideline-to-sideline, but never downhill.

Defensive line plays a 2 gap mush-rush scheme, where keeping contain is more important than getting sacks or tackles for losses.

Jacobs is the #77 rated CB in the NFL. And there are only 62 starting CBs let that sink in.

What the coach says to the press is not going to be 1:1 with what he thinks or what he is actually doing behind the scenes.

I saw a tweet that says in the last 5 weeks, pass plays against the Lions have been on average a Miami Dolphins explosive 😂.

So yeah, let’s limit them please.

The defense has a serious talent deficiency and is average statistically. It’s insane how people are acting like we have a bottom 5 defense rather than a middle of the pack defense

Hard to limit explosives when your outside corners are both susceptible to getting burnt deep. Takes away your blitzes with safety’s because your CBS constantly need help over top, opens the run game up etc. just how I see if

First off, Goff needs to stop turning the ball over. A lot of these turnovers are on Goff lately and first and foremost, he needs to take cere of the ball.

Second, Aaron Glenn needs to stop calling Zone coverage on every play. Why aren’t we seeing more Cover 2 options to stop slant routes? Why aren’t we playing more Man coverage? This defense is a mess right now, and it all starts with Glenn and the plays he’s calling on defense.

There’s a lot this team can do. We need to be better on both sides of the ball, and right now the offense and the defense needs serious work. I’m worried right now.

Going for a fake punt is on Campbell. Putting his defense in a bad spot.

I personally think this falls directly in the DC. He’s the one calling the plays, and has shown he has no idea what to do or call in specific situations. He’s also shown inability to adjust to what opposing teams are doing on the field. Our defense has generated no pressure because of such a basic rush that’s easily stymied. His scheme is horrible, the players appear absolutely unmotivated and lethargic, and Aaron Glenn seems too arrogant about how abysmal this defense has been. His last presser where he was touting statistics and defensive ranks sounded completely oblivious to how bad things have been the past four to five games.

I hope that this is AGs last year and we get someone capable and competent.

He be quick to blame everyone but the defense, but If we aren’t generating pressure they need to find a way to get it

Lions defense has gotten lucky alot. There should have been alot more explosive plays that a good qb would have made. We saw it in the Chargers and Ravens games.

Lions are trying to be a bend but don’t break team, but any good qb breaks them

AG continues to get mentioned for head coaching interviews so there’s something NFL execs and insiders know that we don’t

Not how football works. It’s a lot of people’s fault.

    It’s AGs fault, it’s Holmes’ fault, it’s Campbell’s fault, and it’s the player’s fault.

I will say, in the case of Holmes, he’s not overreacting to some early success and is still building a sustainable winner which will come with bumps. He could have traded for Montez Sweat or Young, but he’s going to keep building via the draft and making smart FA additions.
