  • I personally think this falls directly in the DC. He’s the one calling the plays, and has shown he has no idea what to do or call in specific situations. He’s also shown inability to adjust to what opposing teams are doing on the field. Our defense has generated no pressure because of such a basic rush that’s easily stymied. His scheme is horrible, the players appear absolutely unmotivated and lethargic, and Aaron Glenn seems too arrogant about how abysmal this defense has been. His last presser where he was touting statistics and defensive ranks sounded completely oblivious to how bad things have been the past four to five games.

I hope that this is AGs last year and we get someone capable and competent.

  • Have you been watching the same defense? The past five weeks there has been ZERO pressure on QBs.

503 yards to the Ravens - 0 sacks, 2 TFL. Against the horrid Raiders team our d did okay - 6 sacks and held them under 200 yards. Allowed 420yds and 5 straight TDs to the Chargers - 0 sacks and 1 TFL. Against the Bears they allowed Fields to run for over 100, and he’s run for over 350 against the Lions his past three games. Only 2 sacks.

    Against the Pack - 380 yds allowed - 0 sacks, 3 TFL.

The defense against these teams, outside of the Raiders game, has been horrible. While they are doing really good against the run, they are generating ZERO pressure on opposing QBs. QBs with NO PRESSURE and having over 3 seconds on average to pass are lighting up our secondary.

We’ve only generated 12 turnovers this season, 8th worst in the league. We’ve only generated 23 sacks this season, an inflated number because we had 7 in the ATL game, 5 in the first GB game, and 6 in the Raiders game.

18 of our 23 sacks come from THREE games. That means we have FIVE sacks in the other 8 games.

Hutch is a great athlete, but he can’t do it alone. Opposing defenses just double him or chip him and effectively nullify him since there is no one opposite to benefit. Houston was supposed to be that guy, but he broke his ankle and might not be as effective when he returns.

  • As a Lions fan, the bite on the play action was inexcusable. Herbert is no where near giving that ball away. Anzalone and Branch both bit. You can see at 0:07 that Ekeler runs off and Branch and Anzalone both go after him.

Good coaching would have told either one of them to cover the RB and one to cement in the middle, most likely Anzalone. I love goodwill Thor, but my God he’s got to trust others with their assignments and stick to his.

Good play call and good TD. Allen is a monster and Herbert looks great as well.

  • Imagine the conundrum.

    A) Bears beat Panthers, making the Panthers record worse while going to 3-7 and driving themselves out of the top 5 only getting either 1 or 2 in the draft. Arizona still #1, Panthers #2, NE #3, Giants #4, Rams #5, Bears #6.

    B) Panthers beat Bears, increasing Panthers record to 2-7 and getting them out of top pick contention to Arizona, allowing NE to pass them to #2, but sealing up 3 and 4 in the draft.

Either way it doesn’t matter because their GM is an absolute idiot and will blow the draft anyways.
