I keep having games where after a game ends somebody on either team will say “c9” despite… it not… being… a c9… and just the team not getting to the point from spawn on time or being killed off. Is there a new generation of young gamers who just see a cool new term and repeat it without understanding?

I believe i used it right. or at least in the similar spirit. the entire enemy team was absolutely holding us from the payload like fully pushed into our spawn almost, and our sombra casually pushed the payload in and no one noticed. like that seems like it’s in the c9 spirit to me

"a new generatioin of young gamers who… " Mate this isn’t anything new, you act as if this is the first time a generation have done this.

I agree though, people will call anything a c9 now lol and yes it probably is because newer players to the game don’t fully understand the meaning of c9.

TLDR, it’s when your team does a team kill but lost the game.

Now people just say that if the enemy team abandoned objective and lost. You need a team kill and lose at the final round people

I find it sometimes tilts people saying c9 when it wasn’t. They get all defensive and rattled next round. So it’s fun to say sometimes given the right circumstances (when it wasn’t necessarily a c9)

As a bronze I have no clue but if they all die on point and can’t make it and we capture it I’ll say c9

It originally meant just that a team could have touched the point to prevent the cap but instead went off the point.

Over time though, the definition has evolved, as we’ve seen with tons and tons of words and phrases throughout human history. Also now we have sig9 which is sigma ulting to force the team off but c9 is still used for anyone else forcing the enemy team off these days. It basically now just means the point was won while some of the enemy team was still alive and not within 5ft of spawn.

C9 is fairly common because everyone assumes someone else will get the objective
