Now that I’m hoping everyone on the hype train has relaxed a bit, hopefully you can hear me without cooking the hell out of me

what some of you need to realize is dobbs has been in the nfl for 6 years. I get everyone has a bad game but dobbs hasn’t had a secure starting job basically ever in the long term. He was 1-7 with the cardinals and now 2-2 with the vikes. Not sure what his record is with other teams but it is likely we’ll below .500.

Not to mention he isn’t great at long throws either. While Kirk may not be back dobbs is not the long term answer. I’m not saying we should tank for draft picks cause fuck that but I truly believe Sean mannion could’ve won us that game ( hurts to say )

He’s a good back up QB that can come in for a game or two during the season.

Silly to rely on him to save the season.

Re-sign Kirk, re-sign Dobbs as a back up and draft Jayden Daniels or Bo Nix to take over in two or three years.

I don’t think anyone would disagree that Dobbs isn’t a long term answer. He’s a back up QB. The highest I’ve seen most people go on him in the fanbase is him being a bridge QB for us.

People just wanted to see him succeed definitely after seeing his story, the hype was fun and still is. That’s just how sports is.

Have you been on this sub? Lol I was arguing with a guy that was saying build around Dobbs. Like build what? Top 5 receiver? Top 5 TE? Top half the league Oline?

The dude did better when he didnt know the playbook. Our expectations that he should get better the longer he is here is sadly no longer justified. Its fun that he can be mobile but outside of that does not seem good.

I’m not defending Dobbs because that was terrible.

But I also wonder how much was truly the Bears formatting their entire plan around their defense stopping Dobbs from doing what he does.

They have plenty of tape now with him to craft a simple defensive plan to keep him passing. Both teams sucked and both offenses sucked. But I think they had our simple offense figured out.

So I guess I’m also making your point. They had him figured out easily because he doesn’t have many tricks up his sleeve. They knew what to do and we didn’t get aggressive enough when it mattered.

Dobbs is actually very good for what he is - a backup. Yes, that means he isn’t good for a starter - but he isn’t a starter, and this organization did not give up any starter-level capital to have him.

Meanwhile, he’s a great a dude, by all counts a great person to have in your organization, and he has a great story. I’m proud of the way he fought and at least his last play yesterday was a nice TD strike after a good drive.

He was a really nice story and quite frankly I like him as a person, and I always root for the Vikings. So I will continue to root for him and I don’t really mind the bad because it’s not like there are any expectations on him. It would be a different story if he was paid big money, or the Vikings gave up good draft capital for him, or he was drafted in the first round. But he’s not. He’s a career backup who has been given a chance and I’ll root for him happily because good or bad, he’s a Viking, and my expectations for the season went out the door when Kirk got hurt anyway.

You’d think so, but during our 2-0 run with Dobbs any comment remotely interpreted as slander got downvoted to hell.

Idk man, I was being argued with that Dobbs is just as good as Cousins and that there isn’t any drop off. Half of me wants to be petty and go back to those, but I genuinely hate that I am right.
