i remember when we had to pray and wish for a win against any decent team because the team was just horrible. now, we can and often expect to beat any team in the league. as a fan, even with the losses, it’s exciting to go into any game with optimism that isn’t delusional. save your over analyzed stats and calling for coach’s heads when we are one game back in the division and haven’t been blown out. the close games we won before we’ve lost this year. still a lot of season left and it’s far from over.

as a fan for over 30 years, this is a good time to cheer for them bills…

So many people started paying attention when we started winning and raised expectations. Its a nasty feedback loop. Appreciate your post.

Yes, we had it bad in the past and things are now a lot better.

But with better results comes higher expectations, and the team just isn’t living up to those expectations right now.

Can’t keep looking backwards at bad results from the past to justify lackluster results here in the present.

My team is the Panthers. I’m a Bills fan more recently through life events, but still a Panthers fan first and foremost. If any of you want a dose of true despair, go lurk in /r/Panthers for a while.

I get the point that all the folks who say “at least this isn’t as bad as the drought!” are making, but you have to realize that with football, as in life, your expectations should change.

Think of it this way: Let’s say you were unemployed for a long time. You’'ve been applying, and you’ll take any job you can get. Then, you land a job! And not just any job, this is a job that you really, truly enjoy; rewarding work that you’re good at, fun co-workers, a kick ass boss, great benefits/salary, etc. You can see yourself staying in this job for the rest of your career.

However, after a few years, things start to not be quite as good. The work starts to become not so enjoyable. A few of those great co-workers leave. You start to deal with more BS from your boss.

Would you tell someone who was in this situation “at least you aren’t unemployed!” Yes, obviously having a crappy job is better than not having one at all, but based on your situation, your expectations of the job have changed, and rightfully so. This is how we should approach our expectations of the Bills.

It’s so frustrating to see a team that was ranked as Super Bowl contenders to just fall apart. However, the season is not over and I’m still hoping for the best. Obviously, the injuries took its toll on the team.

For the MILLIONTH time: get over the drought. It’s long gone. It does not have any relevance to the team today. People can barely remember who won the Super Bowl 10 years ago, but Bills fans should be constrained by the losses of teams that none of the current players played on?

It’s a loser’s mentality. The current players and coaches should be held to a normal league standard and not some incredibly low bar set by failing regimes of the past.

Aren’t you sick of the what ifs?!?! I am. 4 falls, wide right, home run throwback, drought years, 13sec etc etc etc. Frankly I’m done with what ifs!

    haven’t been blown out

Nor have we blown anyone out in the last 5 weeks, despite playing 3 bad teams.

A division championship was no longer supposed to be a goal, but a stepping stone.

No, we don’t “got it good.”

Look man the difference between then and now was that then we always hoped we were building towards something. Now it feels more and more like we peaked in 2021 and the window has been closing ever since. That’s why we’re all so frustrated
