Played with some co workers and they made me play mayhem and omg it was something. It was fun but in a bad way it pretty much came down to which orisa had better cycles/heals

Yeah so you just don’t understand how the Orisa works thus you deserve to lose.

Every tank counters Orisa if you know how to play your mains. There are enough Rein mains in top500.

I mean when you’re a tank yourself DVA/Zarya

But it’s a team game, remember? Composition is more than just one person’s hero. Ana/Reaper and any sniper will make orisa have a tough time. Her hit box is huge for headshots, and anti heal shuts her brawling potential down.

Sadly, we can’t always convince other players to swap, but anyone with any real game sense is going to make swaps as they see problems arise.

Orisa isn’t OP, she has a lot of counters, in particular from DPS heroes. You were probably struggling with her because your team refused to adapt and counter her.

As others have said, it’s not so much that Orisa is so powerful, it’s that the supports pocketing her are very powerful and aren’t being targeted.

I can guarantee if you watch back your replay all of your team will be pumping bullets into Orisa because she’s the “threat” meanwhile the supports are healing her for free and no one is dying.

Orisa has one of the lowest win rates of any tank. She is not good. She hasn’t been good for a while now. You just picked the three tanks she hard counters and don’t know how to play against her.

I find dva working, use defence matrix on her Java line back off when she uses spin and dive her after she uses fortify.

Also zarya works too

Those 3 picks are pretty ineffective vs Orisa. Especially if your team isn’t high burst/sustained damage to blow her up or her backline. So her stealing your lunch money and dunking your head in the toilet isn’t a surprise.

Nothing really “counters” Orisa. She’s a strong tank after her OW2 rework and a strong all-rounder that can stand up against CC and also put CC on you with a lot of solo kill potential. Her weaknesses are moreso maps where you need vertical pressure and dive tanks that can reach them or enemy team comps that are highly mobile that she can’t really pin down.

Same thing with Zarya. She’s pretty useless against team comps that aren’t going to give her consistent charge and will pick her team apart (Genji/Tracer/Sombra + dive tanks). You don’t usually see players capable of playing this below mid-diamond though.

You have to step past this rock paper scissors thought process about OW. There are heroes that have gradients of effectiveness vs different match-ups. Some moreso, others less so. You have to understand how to identify those strengths and weaknesses.

I’m a diamond dps and tank player and usually play Winston or DVa vs her. Or I’ll pop out Zarya or Hog if my team is really getting rolled, but I’ve played a lot of hog over the years and know how to play the match-up in OW2. I don’t play Sigma much but if you do he’s probably decent occasionally too. Ball is good too but you might play in an elo that doesn’t benefit from having a disruptor like him or Winston.

I don’t play Orisa because it’s not an enjoyable pick for me. Same reason I don’t play Rein or Ram or Sig. It’s not my playstyle. If you’re willing to do so, you are probably best off broadening your tank hero pool to play tanks that are more versatile vs her (like DVa, Zarya) or play the mirror.

You can go Horse yourself; Zarya, which renders all of their abilities useless; or you can all go a dive comp, if well coordinated, Orisa might get 1 pick while you already finished her whole backline; Your can also counter Orisa, its not necessarily the tank’s job.

High diamond/Low Master tank here. I play Orisa/Dva/Zarya against Orisa myself. Winston also fine depending on the team comp, but I find Dva a bit more effective.

It’s not your job to counter Orisa. Your supports can go Ana and anti her, or your DPS can go 76/Bastion and melt her from range, for example.

Idk why everyone thinks it’s the tanks job to counter the other tank.

just force sig or zar and orisa cant do shit

Winston, Zarya and Sigma all play into her fairly well if you know how to play them.
