  • Regarding the first thing, you know how Saiyans in Dragon Ball Z get stronger every time they nearly die? Allen kind of works like that, too. The harder he gets his ass kicked, the more buff he gets when he heals. It’s not guaranteed given the whole plot beat is show-original, but it’s likely this is where they’re going with it and they’re using it to set up future Allen stuff: Allen is fixing to come back unbelievably fucking jacked out of nowhere, and the comic doesn’t really explain it very well, so this is probably extra connective tissue they’re adding to make that work better.

Regarding the mole thing… he’s almost definitely not actually the mole. The Viltrumites do not like him very much, to put it very, very mildly.

  • You’re starting to realize why I kinda like Andrei.

His personality is what it is (and, to be entirely fair to him, is basically Standard Eastern European Dude), but it’s also not the source of 95% of their issues. He actually gives Family Libby a lot more grace than I would expect out of a dude like him, it’s almost kind of impressive that it took that long for a fistfight to happen between him and Charlie.

  • She NEVER wanted to live with you guys and she was extremely clear about that before they got married.

The Kimberly stuff is genuinely incredibly hard to watch because I feel like I’m watching a woman be gaslit into madness on national TV, and everyone’s okay with it and thinks she’s in the wrong here.

Seriously, it’s like the Pillow Talkers are watching an entirely different show than I am. Kimberly was very clear about her expectations up front, in every possible way. TJ told her “sure, sure, that’s fine” up until she couldn’t easily pull back from it, and then proceeded to ignore those expectations. Kimberly, unsurprisingly, is not taking this well… and I’m apparently expected to think this is somehow her fault?

  • Part of why I say “depending on how fast they move” is because Invincible War is going to require some heavy cuts and alterations to get in (because it’s so reliant on the other Image characters in the comic), they’ve already kind of set it up at the start of this season, and I could absolutely see them doing it in the back half of s2.

They’ve been putting off Angstrom too long to not do anything with him, so I expect the back half of the season to be pretty relatively heavy on his plotline. If they speedrun to the meme template scene and immediately do Invincible War, I could actually see the stick in question being the s2e7 cliffhanger and the meat of s2e8.

The season 1 portrayal was drawing more from the comics than this. Amber in the comics is kind of a terrible person.

They fixed 95% of her personality from the comic, but left the Big Plot Moment with her from the comic, presumably because they’re setting up… the eventual endgame ship from the comic. People got pissy, so they’re going back to the early S1 changed characterization for S2, and it’s a good call.

  • Well, this is gonna fuck over a decent number of FGC people.

If you build your own fightstick, which is pretty common, basically the only way to get a PCB that’s MS-licensed is to hack up a legit Xbox controller (which is not an easy task compared to using most of the hobbyist PCBs). None of the Brook PCBs you can buy online, which are actually reasonable for an amateur stick-builder to use, are licensed, and those are strictly necessary if you want it to be compatible with more than one console (the Universal Fighting Board gives you a stick that’ll work on nearly anything).

So, yeah, I guess this is another gen Sony’s winning on that front.

  • Honestly, I don’t hate him either, but that’s because I don’t really trust what the show is giving me and I think TLC is frauding some shit because they don’t want Jovi and Yara to stick out as The Normal Ones in a sea of train crashes.

If I were to take what the show is giving me as 100% accurate reality, without any TLC fuckery going on, I’d probably not like him very much, and I get why the subreddit hates him because I feel like not a lot of people here actually know just how much TLC fakes.

  • Disagree. That’s wild and makes me kind of wonder if she’s 20-30 years behind everyone else.

Like, back in ye olden days I wouldn’t have batted an eye at that take, but… gaming’s a pretty normalized hobby now. I genuinely don’t meet very many people who just never touch it at all, and most of the people I knew who were like that got swung over to the dark side by COVID.

My parents are probably the most anti-gaming people I know, and… they say all of that while I know for a fact my mom has spent an ungodly amount of hours playing Heroes of Might and Magic 3. And while I have distinct childhood memories of my dad commandeering my PS2 to play through Metal Gear Solid 3, Red Dead Revolver and Conflict: Vietnam when they came out. So, little funny coming out of them.
