  • Simply put it’s the easiest play to convert (the traditional sneak) so it’s basically the first thing the defense tries to take away.

Yes, but despite that traditional sneaks still convert at, like, 80% compared to about 50% overall for all plays(if I remember correctly), which I believe includes those sneak conversions in the total. Teams should probably just line up and sneak all of the time. Seems they’re overthinking it and psyching themselves out more than their opponents.

  • I consider Tobias Harris to be the better player than OG even at SF, so that’s a downgrade.

I could see the argument that it’s a downgrade from 3rd option Tobi, but I’m assuming Morey wants to make a trade that would make Tobi option 4 again (unless it sends him out). Is 4th option Tobi better than OG, when their offensive output is similar, but OG is a better defender and a natural 4th option (although supposedly he doesn’t think that)?

Now, overall, I believe there are other moves that you can make that build a better team. I’d try and target players with cap hits beyond this year that allow you to fit them and Tobias Harris.

I don’t necessarily disagree with this. But I’m trying to think like Daryl, which means I, Daryl Morey, want a bigger star than Tobi, whether that costs me Tobi or moves him back down the pecking order.

  • If both teams are being reasonable (big “if” for the Raptors), I agree that it’s doable. That’s why I’m asking. If that could be the move, is it a good enough “last move” to make us the 3rd team in the “Celtics and Bucks are the favorites in the East” conversation? Would you look at that top of the roster and say, “That top 4 stacks up to what the Celtics and Bucks have”?

  • I’m pretty certain that it works with the cap (I’m not 1000% sure because there’s extra restrictions for going over the 2nd apron now. But it should be fine). And Josh would have to be okay with the tax before he signed off on the move/moves anyway. So I would say all of that being a “Yes” is baked into the hypothetical.

  • I mean, fair enough… But I think I framed this wrong. I’m more saying “Morey is probably going to make a big trade for a guy who’s more of a star than Tobi, which will probably either send Tobi out or bring back bad Tobi by making him option 4. So would getting these two guys be enough in your opinion, if he could manage it?”

  • How would Hou fe if….we could turn Tobi and everything from the Harden trade into KD and Booker?

Don’t focus on how it gets done. I like to dream big

That’s not even on the same level.

OG is going to be a free agent. It could make sense for the Raptors to trade him for something instead of risking him walking for nothing. And the Bulls need to start a rebuild. So trading Lavine makes sense for them… The biggest holdup is Masai accepting reasonable compensation for OG. The total value of what we can send out is fair for what those teams can expect to get, if they’re being reasonable.

  • Thank you for actually participating in the spirit of the exercise.

So you think it won’t fit because Lavine won’t be comfortable as option 3 like Tobi clearly hasn’t been comfortable as option 4?.. Do you think that him being option 2 for 18 minutes a night when either Maxey or Embiid is on the bench (and primary initiator in the non-Maxey minutes) is enough for him to be comfortable?
