Personally I’ll still be here every week watching the live game because gotta take the bad with the good or maybe I’m just a masochist or something idk

We did our part now we need AZ to do theirs in the late game
annnd we’re managing to fuck up our draft position :/
I feel bad for Mac on the one hand but damn that was a poor choice and also we REALLY needed that
Mondre almost took that one to the house
that flag saved and fucked us
Realistically I think defense is sufficient as is. Luxury pickups but not strictly necessary would be a true FS, another solid CB with JC not looking too hot and Jack gone now, and then another EDGE(White taking a step forward could solve this tho).
Even offense I don’t think we’re actually missing that many pieces from being a really good offense, but they’re pieces that aren’t easy to find.
Immediate/high priority needs are a QB(Mac isn’t as bad as his past 2 years suggest imo but he’s clearly not the guy either), WR1 that defenses actually need to account for(re-signed Bourne to go with Pop then Parker/Boutte is otherwise ok depth) and then just a LT and/or LG.
RB doesn’t “need” anything special with Mondre still here tho some late round picks do rebuild depth would be good.
TE same deal if we re-sign Henry, no immediate need but could use a project TE to hopefully eventually replace Henry.
People are acting like we need a whole new line but we’ve got a lot of good parts to work with still. Andrews is good, Onwenu is good(assuming we re-sign), Sow has looked quite promising once we moved him back to his natural RG position tho he’s still got some stuff to clean up(not surprising for a mid round rookie). Left side is where the issue is. Brown is typically a good LT when healthy it’s just that he’s not been as healthy quite as often as you’d like from your starting LT so re-signing him is 50/50. If he’s back and healthy there isn’t necessarily a pressing need at LT but at the same time I wouldn’t say no to still bringing in ATLEAST a mid round project or even Fashanu or Alt if the board doesn’t fall our way on draft day.
LG is arguably our weakest position on the OL right now. Strange hasn’t been worst G in the league but he’s severely under performing his draft position and is routinely getting bullied on the field. Sadly the other guard we drafted this year, Mafi, is miles worse. Mafi has been so bad I’d rather see Ferentz out there and I’m no Ferentz fan. The thing is though that while Strange is the weak link I doubt they’ll move on from him this early so we’ll have to suffer with that same chink in the armor next year as well.
So TL;DR assuming we re-sign Onwenu, Brown, Dugger and Henry then I don’t think it’s crazy with “just” a franchise QB, WR1 and a good LG for us to be serious playoff contenders.
Why doesn’t every team just do this, are they stupid?
The crying is a complete nonfactor.
My issue with him is his current style of play won’t work well in the NFL. Like he’s great at ad-libbing and has all the arm talent in the world but he uses that as a crutch and frequently defaults to it. It’s similar to how dual threat QBs will give up on the pass play and scramble too soon because they’ve gotten away with that too long. He needs to improve at reading defenses and taking what is given rather than trying to just backyard ball and go for the big play every time because, while that is a great tool to have in the toolkit, you can’t run an offense in the NFL on that alone and even in college that’s part of why he struggles vs good defenses.
If we trade back it has to be for a haul and preferably draft picks not players. Unless they are either actually a position of need, good, healthy and on their rookie deals or are just “free with purchase.”
Like I’m not really interested in cornerstone pieces of the deal being reclamation projects like Lance, Love or Fields. I’m not interested in taking on someone who is 27+ who is already going to be starting to decline by the time we’re done rebuilding and I’m not interested in someone with a massive contract or with serious injury concerns.
The only FA QB I’d really have any interest in would be Kirk and even then I’m kinda iffy on that given his age+cost+current state of rest of the offensive roster. Everyone else in FA isn’t gonna make us contenders they’ll just lift us from shit to mediocrity purgatory and at that point rather just either go with a rookie or just run it back with shit QBs again and get another good draft pick.
Why would Mac Jones tear that ball out of Henry’s hands!??!
I believe it’ll be on the local channels in the greater boston area but outside that the rest of the northeast is pretty much SOL
Well that really sucks. Silver lining is it should make re-signing him a lot easier
that last hit seemed to be way outta bounds
We already had v2 with Byrd.
I’d much rather have Gonzo+Pop than Popx2
