People act like they’ve never seen a 1st year starter not pick up open reads because he Cuts The Field In Half, have inconsistent accuracy, hold the ball too long, or even throw an interception like once every 35-40 passes. Have some of y’all even watched Past-and-Present Top-10 QBs’ rookie seasons? Look up what the most common Rookie QB problems are.

If you don’t want a QB that has Sam’s level of issues with Pocket Awareness, even in their 1st year starting, I understand. That’s your preference. But these other things need to be remembered.

Btw: I’m not saying that everyone who wants to move on from Howell doesn’t watch other teams.

I agree. I watch a ton of football outside of our games and not a single qb has a more difficult job than Howell does, besides maybe Bryce Young and early season Daniel Jones.

This team is so hard on the eyes how could you not watch other teams?

If it wasn’t for Stroud, Howell would be more respected by the few fans in here that want him on the chopping block. They see CJ flourishing and want to abandon all hope because they’re used to being impatient and insufferable

I don’t know. I think we need better Oline to give a fair assessment. Sure there’s instances, but I don’t feel comfortable making a decision on his choices yet because he’s constantly under pressure.

It almost doesn’t matter. He looks pretty good to me, but it’s hard to evaluate him when the OL sucks on their best day and the team is falling apart.

If someone wants to back up the trade-value Brinks truck for Sam Howell, you take them up on it, because value is value, and we’ll be in a position to replace him if we have to. And if we draft a QB with Sam on the roster, that’s fine, too. Having two good QBs on a team is a good problem that’s easily solved. And if we don’t draft QB and roll with Sam, well, fuck, that’s also okay, because he’s cheap and probably not going to be meaningfully worse than the rest of the team next year, anyway.

It’s because people see QB’s like Mahomes and Allen spring out so quick that they expect better than them. Which is impossible. Now while I love Howell I can admit when he does things wrong but putting the entire blame on him and wanting to move on is ridiculous

Yes, exactly. People who think Sam is the future don’t watch other team’s QB’s

The big thing is that the new GM will have free range to do whatever he wants, if they wanna draft someone and not care about Howell then that’s fine, no matter what he’s on a cheap deal and we aren’t locked on him

I prefer giving him another year but I’m not paid for my opinions on the draft

Need to find that post where the OP presented like 20 QB’s from Howell’s draft class and asked the top 5 to be ranked.

A shocking number of them had Howell ranked above Purdy. Have these folks watched anything other than C’s games? Howell has had a nice year and done some great things, but what Purdy has done all year has been incredible. Went into an angry environment today and not only flourished, but dominated the Eagles. The dude is making his case for MVP.

I don’t think you know what you’re watching is the problem lol. Time watched doesn’t equal knowledge.

The largest issue is this fan base and its obsession with any sort of flash of QB and absolutely loses its mind. It has zero idea how to evaluate QBs, their place with in the league, or really what a QB means. The fact that so many people are ok building around a Kirk, a Taylor or a Sam just proves that the large majority of the fan base are utter morons who don’t understand football at the most basic level.

You want to compete for SBs? Go find an elite QB. Want to wallow in mediocrity and battle for playoff spots? Go for a mid level QB. Have fun in your mediocrity.
