Tonights game pits the 1-7 Panthers against the 2-7 Bears. I for one am incredibly excited because I believe TNF is about watching bad football.
My favorite TNF game of all time was the WK 14 2013 game pitting an awful Texans squad against my own awful Jaguars. Jaguars would go on to win an incredibly ugly and penalty filled (22 of them) 27-20 with Matt Schaub, Case Keenum, Chad Henne, and MJD putting on a show for a national audience that probably went to bad that night with the same feeling as you would have after going minor league hockey game.
What are some other wonderfully awful TNF Matchups that we can remember?
Got tickets to Seahawks at Niners from a colleague, great seats, met friends at a pregame, ate and drank well, tossed the pigskin in the parking lot.
I was AMPED and half drunk ready for a sick divisional matchup.
5 field goals, final score 6-9
week 9 2018 pitted the 2-7 49ers against the 1-6 raiders.
it was 14-3 by two minutes into the 2nd quarter, after which point the 9ers scored another twenty points and the raiders scored another…zero
Nick Mullens “Montana” game
I don’t really enjoy bad games, but I do enjoy aggressively bad games. This is an example of just an over the top aggressively bad game so I think it will be fun for all the wrong reasons.
Throw the house on Panthers ML. There is no world that exists in this universe where this Bears team deserves to be a 3 point favorite with a back up QB playing.
Nice try Bezos
This is true sicko football.
Just think about late May when you would kill to watch two bad nfl teams play
ehhhh
that was true for me 5 years ago but I’m starting to get to the point where the quality of the games has been so low for an extended period that I’m getting a little turned off by them. There’s a significant officiating issue in the league, QB play is kind of cruddy right now, injuries are rampant, commercials are seemingly more part of the game than gameplay itself, etc
I’ll watch tonight because I don’t have a ton more to do but football is starting to become a little bit of a chore at times for me. Maybe it’s just me
I’d be curious to know if the amount of commercials has gone up in the past 5-10 years. Most people don’t see commercials when watching other things because of streaming. And a lot of us watch Redzone where there is minimal commercial.
Rant time: Redzone, while I still love it and it is my preferred way to watch football on Sunday afternoons, has been adding ad spots in and I don’t like it. Occasionally the game goes to like 75% of the screen and we get bright ass red Patrick Mahomes slinging insurance taking up the rest of the screen. Use to be all the stats were just stats and now they are “X stat brought to you by mega corp”. That’s not too intrusive but when you sell a product on you pay for this service and we promise no ads, I want no ads!
Thank you for reading my ted talk.
Stoppable force meets a movable object.
Colts/Broncos was truly something.
While the matchups don’t seem interesting, there have been some wildly entertaining TNF games. Sometimes for how bad they are, sometimes for the surprising level of competition and crazy situations.
I have to remind myself that I’d rather watch a bad game on Thursday and a good game on Sunday.
Nothing worse than extraneous variables playing on huge games during short weeks.
My Giants are due for TNF…
every Thursday night game that isn’t on network TV or NFL network is an embarrassment.
Titans vs Jaguars

Is it in Bears bear interest to lose or win? Regarding draft order. Or would a tie be best? Since they have their 1st and Carolina’s 1st next draft.
Either way this has to be an all worst matchup on Prime Time Game this late in the season, as far as team records are concerned.
So how did the same scheduling department book this game this week, Bengals/Ravens next week, and think, “Yeah, this is about the same level of competition”?
