I’ve told him like 4 times what hitscan characters are, but he just doesn’t get it. I tell him that Widowmaker is hitscan, and he says that she has projectiles and therefore isn’t hitsscan. I’ve told him what the hitscan means, where you click on a target and they take damage without a projectile, but he still doesn’t quite understand how it works and will still yell at me if I say Ashe is hitscan.

    It’s very simple when they fire they basically have a line starting from their gun to infinity and anyone touching that line first gets damaged or you’re sojourn and anyone that’s touching the line at all gets damaged

    Explain to your friend that when he looks at really hot porn and he pops immediately, hitting himself in the eye, that’s hit scan.

    When the porn is mediocre and he has time to anticipate his orgasm and even dodge out of the way, that’s projectile.

    🤔🧐😫💦

    Tell him hitscan means bullets hit instantly and projectiles have travel time.

    Soldier=hitscan

    Orisa=projectile

    And tell him abilites don’t count

    The only source of confusion I can think of is that in real life all firearms have projectile travel time but this isn’t the case in the game (has he played Apex? In there all weapons have projectile flight time and bullet drop).

    Have him try out Widow vs Hanzo in the firing range at long distance to feel the difference?

    I think what he finds confusing is that pretty every character has an actual projectile and therefor it becomes confusing when you say some are “projectile heroes” and some “hitscan heores” because all of them are firing a projectile just with differing speed.

    Travel time. Hitscan does not have any travel time. Hitscan you do not need to lead your shots, just keep it on their head and click.

    Ana hip fire is not hitscan, Ana scoped is.

    Hitscan characters basically have a big invisible laser out of their gun always. If you click , and anyone’s hit box is touching your “laser” they take damage. Projectiles are typically slow as hell look at a junk primary, or concussion mine. Reins fire strike? Syms alt fire?

    I’m pretty dumb at video game lingo , and I picked this up instantly. Projectiles act like basket balls, hitscan act like real bullets

    Explain the “minigame” aspect here.

    Hitscans much align the target to the cursor/reticle and click at the right time. (But are often more precise)

    Projectiles must predict where people will be when it lands (But are often easier to hit/ are more forgiving)

    When a hitscan character shoots, the bullet hits the target at the exact same time as when you pull the trigger. Regardless if you are at point blank or if you are a mile away, they’ll both hit in the same amount of time (which is instant). Projectiles, on the other hand, do take some time to reach their target, and will take longer to hit the further away you are.

    Say, hit scan is when the shot gets there instantly while projectlie is when it takes longer to get there. Heros are classified projectile or hitscan based on their primary weopon (widow gun)

    I don’t think you can explain it to him. Hitscan is where you lick the person and they instantly take damage. Projectile is where you have to aim where you think they’re going for them to take damage. That’s as simple as it gets and if he can’t understand that then there is no hope.
