I have no strategy other than to try not to shit my pants because I’m an amateur with zero profession basketball experience. I sit around in my office hoping no one asks me anything and no decisions need to be made.
I see someone is ready for a career in upper management…
I know I’m going to get down-voted all to hell here but I think your position isn’t as good as you’re making it out to be.
That said…
I think if a new GM came in, I would expect them to do a complete teardown. Keep one, maybe 2 pieces tops, and sell the rest for parts and rebuild. There’s also the possibility the GM might try a process 76ers where they try to build a championship team around Cade, but so far I don’t think he’s shown he’s that guy. He might be, and I hope to hell be does get there, but right now I don’t think he is.
Just my thoughts.
Time for the rebuild part II? Which rebuild are we on again?
Not at all; the Pistons are the worst in the league this year. They were the worst in the league last year. They have been the worst over the last 4 years. They have not one a play-off game since 2008.
If the drafting got worse, would anyone actually notice? If I were an owner he would not be coming into the office today or ever again. Add the Tellem’s to that list.
What the Pistons need is some offence, defense, and some rule changes.
The Pistons kept The Joker to only 9 pts, 5 reb, and 5 ast on Monday, some of the lowest stats of his career. If the Pistons can keep that up they might be contender one day!
Re: There’s absolutely no way he can be worse than Wiseman.
Wiseman is excellent at cashing cheques.
I’m curious to see if Cade gets a max deal at the end of the year. I think the Pistons will float the max or something close to it, but I’m curious if Cade decides against signing, signs the one-year tender a la Greg Monroe, and becomes a UFA for 2025.
I don’t know if Cade is the answer, I’m not an analyst, but there’s a problem and something has to change, I think that much is clear.
I am not judging or critiquing you, but can you elaborate as to why you feel this? I just feel that your comment requires more depth on why you think this way.
Personally, I am joining the “it might be too early to judge” club but I have my concerns as he makes way too make stupid decisions/turnovers and his 3 pt shooting is shite.
Original spore was terrible. I have no interest in spore 2 at all.
Weaver likes him some centres, I can’t see him trading a centre without getting at least 1 in return, preferably 2…
Personally though as below, matching salary, enjoy your Wiseman.
I wouldn’t do it but I don’t think it’s a bad trade. Wiggins’ salary isn’t so bad for a starter, he might be a good leader (I don’t exactly know the guy), and it might help Cade et al develop. It does mean we’ve given up hope on Ivey, which I don’t know if I’d do just yet and I think he’s got some potential.
He’s not wrong
I’m going to go out on a limb and say he’s not coming back. The Pistons hold him out, make sure he’s OK, makes sure he doesn’t get injured, then trade him in early Dec or something for some assets, telling other teams behind the scenes that he’s fine, they were just keeping him on ice to make sure he’s OK for a playoff run.
I say this positively too: my thinking is A) the Pistons know they have the nucleus of a team, so they want to play them, and B) they do right by Bojan and trade him to a contender in what might be his last year for a shot at the title.
I think the Pistons are turning a corner but if all the stars align at best I think they’re a .500 team right now so taking the loss at OKC. Would like to see how they do against Portland, someone you’d think the Pistons should be able to beat (or at least be favoured to beat).
Eventually, you are what your record says you are.
