Zoe is not really true dmg in the way it works for others. It uses post mitigation dmg as the number for the dmg. So you can still reduce that dmg with MR (MR - 30%). Just so that it won’t get reduced twice it uses true dmg.

They could have used pre mitigation dmg also, just like they do with Zeds R.

Amumu is different to Zoe as he uses pre mitigation magic dmg and enhances it, so MR doesn’t do anything against his true dmg.

True damage was put in to counter out some tankiness. They definately should remove it on some champs, or at least look at its strength.

    Gp, rek’sai, ksante maybe garen?

True damage isn’t that problematic imo, biggest offender is ksante ofc but most other champs have a reason / wouldn’t make sense without it.

    Master Yi’s E, Cho gath R and Garen R.
Why? I mean, specially those two Rs. Point and click execute.

I’m not a huge fan of true damage. I think true damage should be reserved for Ignite, making it a unique damage type. Everything else should simply have bonus armor/magic resist penetration if they want to amp up the damage. But leave true damage out of champion kits and items.

    I play Zoe, a lot- so I’mma just say…
    Why?
The damage is calculated after modifiers, so when Zoe hits you with Q- that’s double the damage it would’ve been if she hit you without using E.
However, for some odd reason- Riot added a 30% magic resist shred onto it.
So now, anyone building MR- if hit by Zoe E- practically might as well not build it in the first place- especially if she has Void Staff.
If this is supposed to be say, be her winning thing- like hitting someone with E should always do big damage… why not make the damage amp be pre-mitigation while the Q itself is post? Then she does more true damage than magic damage and you know that if you get hit by Zoe E, your MR doesn’t matter.

The 30% shred just… fucks with me mentally for some reason.
Don’t get me wrong, makes her amazing as a support for a burst mage like Syndra.

Yone E isn’t technically true dmg. If it was physical dmg then armor would reduce it twice since it’s scales with post mitigation damage dealt

For me any mage that has true damage on an ability (Lilia, Zoe, Gwen, Ahri) sounds wrong.

I’m not saying these champs are too strong, it just doesn’t fit them.

I wouldn’t consider Yone’s E and Zoe’s E to be true damage, because it’s a percentage of the post-mitigation damage that they dealt previously so it was already reduced by resistances

Things I think should have true damage if they must:

Void champs - sure they’re from a different realm maybe they’re powered differently.

Olaf and sett - they have to sort of trade their hp for the damage which makes playing better. Imagine you take 100hp to Olaf e and they take 50dmg due to mitigation then that spell is useless.

Executes - true damage sure, it’s more like threshold so perhaps not true damage.

Damage amplification- there’s no other way to amplify this. If you say this makes to others do 10% more damage but then have to factor resists it might only be 7%. That’s hard to calculate as a player.

Things that shouldn’t be true damage

Darius ult - it’s still just his axe, should he physical damage.

Gp passive - it’s just regular fire

Ksante - not sure why he needs it

Twitch passive - it’s just poison
